Dribbblers Hosted 11 Meetups Around the Globe in May

Over 800 designers attended 12 meetups in 7 countries in the month of May. From our own epic Hang Time After Party to Metalab’s event in Montréal, there were get-togethers of all shapes and sizes, and they were all awesome!

A meetup can be a great way to meet other members of your design community, pool resources, get great advice, hear about new tools, and more! You don’t need to put on a huge or fancy event, simply getting folks together over beers or coffee is a great way to foster the community. For example, Matthew Moss in Tokyo had this to say about their meetup:

“Despite terrible weather in Tokyo, we had about twelve people come out to our little meetup. It was a fun night! Lots of talking and sharing work, and people contributed in both English and Japanese. The people who turned out were engaged and people networked and chatted solidly for a few hours and had snacks and drinks, before deciding it was time to brave the rain. We’ll definitely be meeting up again sometime in July, looking forward to seeing more Tokyo designers there!”

And here’s Lauren Gowens from Hunstville, Alabama:

“Our speaker, Min Sun Lee, did a great presentation on the pros and cons of freelancing. Once the presentation was over, we kept the dialogue going at the brewery nearby. We ended up having a small groupf of only ten people, but everyone got a lot of out of it and will be sure to catch the next one!”

Pink Slips Analog was busting at the seams when over one hundred designers and artists met up for a night of drinking, drawing, and fun. The meetup coincided with the studios monthly Art Night event and was attended by many Dribbble members and prospects from Georgia and South Carolina. It featured an analog Playoff with the theme, “something pink.” Pink Slips is an analog print studio operated by Jason Craig in downtown Augusta, GA.”

  1. Hang Time Seattle After Party design conference hang time seattle

“This was our second Dribbble Hang Time, and it was a total blast! 350 designers and creatives, including the entire team, enjoyed a full day of some truly amazing speakers addressing the theme Quality over Quantity, as well as a workshop and keynote by Aaron Draplin! Not only were our swag bags full of amazing things from our sponsors, there were local vendors, a photo booth, and live screen-printing at our after-party.

Huge thank you to our sponsors for helping us bring the design community together in Seattle. We’re getting excited for Hang Time III in L.A this fall!

Chișinău, Moldova @ Ellation’s House

“Moldova had its firtsDribbble meetup hold in its capital Chisinau on 31th May at Ellation. The initiative was fully supported by lead designers from digital agencies such as Ellation, FloAgency and FFW. Vova Vascovet, the cherry of the night, a great lead designer in the community shared with the attendees some of his experiences at the last OFFF Barcelona Conference. We aimed to have exploratory conversations rather than presentations, and with this in mind, we discussed what the most important topics to us as designers are, to discuss at future meetups.

We also had a bit of a getting-to-know-you session, where our 30 participants shared some work inside and we discussed portfolios. We also had conversations about the importance of participating in physical gatherings, conferences, and meetups happening around. Shoutout to all the participants that were incredibly open and interactive during the meetup!”

“On May 9th we hosted our third MetaLab x Dribbble Meetup— this time, in beautiful Montréal! We had over 50 local designers pack the Crew Collective Cafe to mingle, enjoy some brews, eat some pizza, and partake in a few fun design challenges. Shout out to everyone who came out to say hi and join in on the good times. We’re already looking forward to scouting out our next location, stay tuned!

Oh and P.S., we’re hiring!”
