Who are you?
My name is Molly Francis. I am a UI UX Designer living in the heart of Austin, Texas. I currently work at an ecommerce software company called Volusion, where I have worked for 7 years. With 15 years under my belt in the design world, I have slowly moved from visual design into the user experience and interface side. I have enjoyed growing from a self-driven designer on solo projects into the product side, where you really have to collaborate with others knowing you all have the same goal—to build and continue to strive to make a product successful.
What are you working on?
I am currently working on updating the Volusion admin, dashboard and onboarding process. With a company that is 16 years old, the interface is in need for a less complicated work flow and a fresh look. The end goal is to increase conversions for Free Trial customers and retain existing customers.
Choose a favorite shot of yours. Why is it a favorite?
Having an 8 year old has inspired me to create this app due to giant piles of art and school work that she brings home. Knowing that I am creating something useful to me and other families who feel the same pain is rewarding. When you look at your family’s attic with childhood artwork that should have been trashed years ago, you realize Artigami is for you.
Tell us about your setup. What tools did you use to create the shot (e.g. hardware, software, pens, paper, blowtorch)?
I sit at a 1950’s desk that was my papa’s back in the day. I love the craftsmanship of old furniture. I have a few simple things that I keep close including my Pentel markers, Fuji Instax Camera, and of course my thunderbolt monitor.

I love James Oconnell’s illustrations. It is truly a unique designer. I love the screen print style!
