SXSW ATX Dribbble Meetup Recap

We had a blast at the 5th annual SXSW ATX Dribbble Meetup this past Saturday! Over 400 Austin locals and SXSW-goers attended. We celebrated with designer friends new and old and snapped some photos with the Silver Bucket in the amazing Smilebooth. See all the silly faces here.

We couldn’t have done it without @atxdribbble meetup organizer Sophie Shepherd! And a big thank you to Austin local Ryan Weaver, who designed the amazing Dribbble ‘Dillo mascot for the event—which adorned koozies and shirts.

Thanks to our Global Meetup Sponsors

A huge thank you to our Global Meetup Sponsors—Sticker Mule and Stocksy.

Sticker Mule hooked us up with shirts, stickers, buttons, and meetup swag packs galore! Check them out if you awesome stickers that are printed beautifully and ship fast.

The folks from Stocksy—home to a curated collection of royalty-free stock photography that’s beautiful, distinctive and highly usable—joined us in Austin for the meetup. We loved having Sarah and Cameron there talking to designers and handing out sweet Stocksy tees.

Silver Bucket awarded to Cape Town

Each year at SXSW, we award the Silver Bucket to the most active Dribbble community. It was first awarded to the Austin Dribbble community for 2014 and then last year, we awarded it to the Washington, D.C. Dribbble community for 2015. We’re excited to announce we’ve awarded the Silver Bucket for 2016 to the Cape Town Dribbble community, for their meetups organized by Isoflow.

We’ve loved watching Cape Town’s enthusiasm for Dribbble and Dribbble Meetups over the past year. Isoflow has planned consistently awesome Dribbble Meetups with fantastic speakers and a welcoming community. Congrats!

Isoflow said:

“We’re ecstatic to be selected as the winners amongst so many global Dribbble communities! We have thoroughly enjoyed the Dribbble platform and have found that so many other designers in our local community also use Dribbble to showcase their work, get feedback from the design community and market their skills. We value being exposed to the work of other talented designers, not just in South Africa but around the world. Dribbble meetups have been a great way to network, socialize and showcase designs. They have also been a cool way to learn from each other and gain exposure to other areas of design. Isoflow specialises in UX and UI design but we’ve had such fun hearing from speakers on design processes and techniques in areas such as illustration, animation and typography. Our free beer and pizza, as well as cash prizes for our Analog Playoff competitions, are a huge drawcard for our events which has only been possible thanks to our generous sponsors.

We look forward to many more Cape Town Dribbble Meetups. A big thank you to Dan and Rich for their world-class platform, the ongoing support from their team and the great swag they keep sending our way. Thank you for the inspiration from the other communities & meetups around the world. Despite being at the tip of Africa, Dribbble allows us to stay connected to the global design community.”

Thanks to everyone that came out. We’ll see you again next year!
