Come Friday, designers wearing hot pink or Halloween costumes (hot-pink Halloween costumes?) will make their way to The Coding Shophouse in Penang for a Dribbble meetup.
Live in Penang? RSVP and look forward to a night of great design talk and great talks from designers. Don’t live in Penang? Take a tour with designer Ter Yi.
What do you love about Penang?
The thing that I love about Penang is its culture and the relaxed-yet-exuberant lifestyle. Art and design can be found throughout the city, including street art, galleries and exhibitions that reflect the creativity filling the city. In addition, I am intensely passionate about Penang’s famous local cuisine.
Tell us where you work.
I am currently working as the project manager at Little Interactive, an animation and motion graphic studio. It is located in the heart of Penang, Georgetown, Malaysia. Because Penang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city’s culture and unique character are widely promoted and embedded in the planning and redevelopment projects in the city. Penang has become the startup hub of Malaysia. The development of the city has given opportunities to all designers — from street artists, to fine artists and graphic designers and many other artists across different platforms — to cross genres and produce astounding projects such as the Hin Bus Depot Art Centre and @CAT (Penang’s accelerator for creative, analytics and technology).
What is the Penang design scene like?
Penang’s design scene is growing rapidly, which has to be credited to the local institutions and bodies nurturing new talents. Design events and art exhibitions are organized frequently, and inspire local designers and artists. The Georgetown Festival, one of biggest design and art festivals that happens every year in Penang, gathers artists and designers from around the globe to collaborate and share ideas with each other.
Choose three shots from three Penang designers you admire, and let us know why you chose the shots/designers.

One of the highlights in Malaysia is the variety of food choices. We Malaysians love to exchange our delicacies among races.
