Our kind of town, Chicago is! Dan and Alison blew into the Windy City Friday for a Facebook + Dribbble meetup at Birch Road Cellar. All the Chi-town cliches out of the way, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Serena Anand, Shali Nguyen, Leonardo De La Rocha, Mike Finch, Jeremy Loughnot, and Marissa McCombs for pulling the event together and to Facebook Product Design Director Jon Lax for hosting a design discussion with Dan.
When we talk about Dan traveling, you probably wonder what’s in his suitcase, right? Wonder no more! The crew at Everyday Carry interviewed Dan this week. We have some inside scoop: We know where you can get a pencil just like Dan’s. Right here.
Over at the blog, Alison posted our version of the society page: the April Meetup Wrap-up. Ten Meetups! Five Countries! Dan and Rich flew north for one of the ten, a meetup at our sponsor Shopify’s Toronto office. (Photo below.)
Also on the blog, we debuted a new series called Shot Block. The inaugural piece featured 9 very cool enamel pins by 9 very talented designers. Also at the blog, we took a Timeout with Devin Ross, who used our API to create balllin’. Devin not only is a kick-ass app developer, but also has a nifty way with the English language. Witness:
I always thought the brand of basketball Rich and Dan channelled for Dribbble was of the James Naismith, short shorts and pony on the feet variety. balllin’ brings that “If I could be like Mike,” Fab Five, Rucker Park vibe. Still the same game, just with a little more (native iOS) swagger.
Finally, a bit of news we hope is helpful: Web app integration platform Zapier can now connect Dribbble to your other apps.
