Daily UI Challenge - (06) Calculator app

Hey everyone !

I have created this ‘Calculator app’ concept using Adobe Xd. This design was a part of the 10 day UI challenge taken up by me.

I took up this challenge to enhance my UI skills and challenge myself daily by creating engaging, aesthetic and usable interfaces.

▪️ I have explored both ‘light’ and ‘dark’ modes in this design along with a ‘neumorphic’ approach for the buttons which gives them a soft feel overall. Mentioned below is the thought process behind creating the concept designs.

▪️ There was a high focus on the functionality and usability while creating the aesthetic UI, where the core functionalities were the basic arithmetic operations, memory functions, and a clear display of calculations. Based on the secondary research, I observed that all the calculator apps had pretty much a standard UI where the focus was to easily input numbers and perform calculations. With this in mind, I determined the placement and size of buttons, ensuring they are easily tappable and distinguishable.

▪️ I paid attention to the visual aesthetics, selecting a clean and modern neumorphic design that is visually appealing and provides clear visibility of numbers and symbols. The color palette is chosen to be visually pleasing and to ensure proper contrast for legibility.

▪️ I plan of incorporating swipe gestures for advanced functions and exploring the use of haptic feedback for a more engaging user experience in the future iterations.
