City of Marion Design Research

The City of Marion initiated a multi-step complete rebrand of the city in 2016. Step two started in 2017, after the unveiling of the new wordmark and color scheme for the city. The downtown area was plagued by confusing and inconsistent signage. The city reached out to a group of sixteen students, including myself, and tasked us with creating a revitalization plan focused on city guidelines. The three-month process was governed by investigative design research, SWOT analysis, studying demographics, guiding focus groups, conducting observational research, and analyzing surveys. The final product was a book presenting our research. The book was then passed on to help with the next step of revitalizing downtown.
