I originally sketched designs using pen and paper but wanted to move to doing this digitally to keep a better history of my sketches as they evolved but without loosing too much speed. After reading this Eden Spiekermann piece about designing in Keynote, I gave it a try and have been using it ever since.
It's not for everyone, but it works for me. I don't know enough about designing in other software to compare, but I can relate to the article with what they say about the benefits of using Keynote.
