5/10 — King Krule - 6 feet beneath the moon

This is probably the best debut album of the decade for me, I thought this was genuinely gonna spark pure copycat albums similar to what Mac Demarco’s 2 did. But fuck me this is good. I remember browsing through Q or NME one of those music magazines while my Mum was shopping in Tesco and straight away Archie stood out. I knew it was gonna be something I’d be into.

I don’t reckon I bought the mag, but I went home and listened to Out Getting Ribs about 30 times in a row. It was perfect, the way he sang, snarling at the camera with this great bright orange hair pulled back, the confidence and dress sense was everything I was missing and needed in my life. It felt like a fucking battle cry or something. The album lived up this whole idea, it just took me about 3 more years to embrace what I fucking buzzed off from it all.
