10x19 Gang Starr

A big and welcome surprise this year was the first album from Gang Starr in 16 years, and 9 years after the death of Guru, too. DJ Premier took unreleased Guru vocals to create a foundation for the new album titled One of The Best Yet. It’s like opening a time capsule. Stripped back and nostalgic. Or like uncovering the ancient shrine of the “late king who provided lyrical slaughter.” That’s what inspired the collage for this album art re-imagining, which is made up of cut out pieces from various churches, temples and shrines to create an altar to the late great Guru and this latest resurrection of Gang Starr.
