St. Nicholas Day

This is another day from of my daily advent calendar illustrations for the month of December. You can check the whole series out so far on my blog. Being that this piece was for December 6th, (St. Nicholas Day) I decided to go a bit past my self imposed "1 hour time limit." You have to give the man in red the proper time he deserves... after all he knows when I've been bad or good, right? ;)

I tried to keep St. Nick as he was expressed in the Victorian Era, (tall and hooded with a long beard, holding a tree) but using the style of bold lines and simple color relationships I have done previously in the daily illustrations. At the end, I would like to gather all the designs in a calendar grid and sell them as one print!
