Dot Matrix Project

I'm currently in my first year of university studying graphic design, and for my second assignment I had to create a dot matrix. Basically, I had to photograph all 26 letters of the alphabet using everyday objects within a grid.

I tried several different methods including coke cans, my laptop's LED keyboard & more, but my favourite turned out to be the pumpkin field version.

I used 77 pumpkins in a grid to create these images. Fun fact - I had to do this twice on different days to ensure I had the correct x heights, ascenders & descenders etc.

There are still a couple of mistakes, it was really hard making this as it was in the middle of a pumpkin field (the weekend before Halloween) and it was super busy and distracting!! 🎃

So here's a few of the letters I created. It was a really fun (and time consuming😂) project, it got me out of my comfort zone and taught me to always plan in advance, it gave me a bit more knowledge about typography too! 😄
