My take on a global "brand": The GNU License. The cartoon illustration of a GNU used to represent the GNU license has always struck me as a bit too goofy for the thing it represents. I've attempted to make a more abstracted version of the animal, incorporating loose interpretations of the letters "GNU" into the design itself. Below the mark would either be the letters "GNU" (here set in Source Sans Pro) to represent the license overall, or other acronyms for more specific GNU licenses (such as LGPL, AGPL, etc) or version numbers could replace it, as needed & in colors specific to the license.
