    I didn't immediately figure out that triangle was the button; that should say enough methinks. Assuming it's a tab control, perhaps make a "proper" button inside the tab, way on top?

    Why not create a button under the whole block, that says "Create your course here »" or something? I'd be more inclined to say alot of people may not know what the plus icon does. Assuming the block isn't going to show all of the 24 followed courses? Perhaps introduce a scrollbar on it so you can show 5 or 6 at a time?

    Loving how clean this is right now though.

    Great work! I agree that the plus icon isn't the most user-friendly solution though. How about adding a cell to the top of the list (underneath of the tabs), which is not as tall as the other items, perhaps in italics and reads “+ Add course”? That would provide an unobtrusive, yet more easily accessible and understandable way to, well, add courses.
