Battle of the Five Armies - Face-Off!

Not between the combined armies and the orcs, but between my two different versions of this painting (see the two attachments). The original was very bright and colorful, which people noted wasn't particularly apt for a climactic battle. So I did the second version, using PSD to do what my art teachers taught me to do manually. Anybody have a preference for one or the other? Or any other critiques?
