Personal branding update - share buttons

Updating my personal website and general branding - about 1/3rd of the way through the site redesign (built in Wordpress). I'm designing everything (except the logo) in browser, which is a bit of an experiment, but producing good results so far. More shots to come!

Technical bit - using alpha transparency on images (removed on rollover to give the brightening effect) and a wordpress plugin which lets me re-skin share buttons. I am wondering if this approach might lead to less interaction by users because the buttons are less recognisable? Considering some a/b testing when the site goes live, but I certainly prefer these visually.
