Daily UI #029 - Map

Day: 029 - Map
At first, I struggled to come up with a plan of attack for this challenge. I’d say the concept and functionality of a map have pretty much been dominated by Google since the implementation of Google Maps, and I wanted to steer away from that path.

As always, I sat down with my trusty sketchbook and started brainstorming. After metaphorically pacing for a bit, I came up with using a mall map or path-finding system as the subject matter for inspiration.

Surprisingly, I found a good specimen for a redesign right in my backyard. The local out-door mall in my hometown called Broadway Plaza just pumped a ton of cash into flashy renovations. With the remodel also cam a sweet interactive map on their website. You can check that out here:

Overall the map isn’t too bad, but it could use some UI/UX polish. This shot is a glance at my interpretation of how the UI and UX of the site could be redesigned.
