Here's a little something from the Red Bull Sound Supply relaunch earlier this year:
Music discovery ain't easy. You'd be surprised by how often we don't really know what we are listening to: describing genres is hard, describing moods is objective, and finding the right track can be really difficult.
When we started the redesigning process for the new Red Bull Sound Supply we spend some time thinking about the best ways to encourage users to start listening to the right music as fast as possible. This approach led to a discovery-based card approach focusing on thematic collections and curators you can trust. The cards enable users to pre-listen to short snippets from a collection by hovering over the play button.
