Buddy Design

As a software developer myself, I understand the pain of automating deployment.

For this project, I spent a bit of time going through Buddy and talking to other engineers about their own pipeline woes. I learned a lot about what people want.

The biggest issue was the visualization of the pipeline. I wanted to make it easier to show the linear progression as well as the ability to do things in parallel in a clearer way.

The next design choice was putting the "add action" in its own modal instead of a new page. The main view being the pipeline and adding steps only as an add on.

Since Buddy offers 100+ options for steps it is important for people to not get lost in the offerings. For this, I decided to make the categories stand out more on the left-hand side. If you're a developer who uses Kubernetes and Docker, seeing Kubernetes and docker as a category would suggest that category might have what you need.

Of the engineers, I talked to every single one was able to add and configure steps easily.

So based on that, here is my rebound! Let me know your thoughts!
