Following up with another look inside our Movies focused work with the Events Team at Facebook. As a part of this project we were able to create a dedicated surface within Facebook where people can browse what’s playing at theaters near them as well as explore titles that are coming up.Since movie posters are works of art in and of themselves, we opted to keep the UI elements to a minimum and give the posters as much space to shine as possible.
We also wanted to make sure we were leveraging Facebook’s strengths (social connection) so we designed a portion of the UI to give users the ability to see which of their friends have said they’ve seen certain movies and which ones have expressed interest in others. This allows the user to either take certain actions based on the information. If I know my friend Scrib has seen Captain Marvel already, I might reach out to him to see if he liked it and if he thinks I should go see it. If I know my friend Ben is interested in seeing the new John Wick movie, maybe I’ll hit him up to see if he wants to go together.

Anyone seen any good movies lately? Summer is upon us and big releases are hitting the theaters. I saw Rocketman over the weekend and LOVED it. It’s not hard to get me on board with a music based biopic though.
