The Adventurers

This is a piece I have been working on for a friend. She wanted an illustration for her son's bedroom that encapsulated the imagination and adventurous spirit of her boy, and she wanted it to take place in a forest. I went about it by thinking back to what I loved as a child--fireflies and my bear. I tried to make both a bit larger and more whimsical than real life, as if seen through a child's eyes. It began as a hand-drawing, but I switched to computer-based in order to accentuate with the childlike feel.
