A good friend is departing Germany soon and heading back to The States after five years in Frankfurt. This faux-antique painting was his going away gift. It's full of fun details and inside jokes. Apologies to 18th centruy Italian painter Pompeo Batoni. His 1778 portrait of Francis Basset, Baron of Dunstanville, served as a base layer for my Photoshop shenanigans. I then added dozens and dozens of layers of digital 'paint' with my Wacom tablet. It reminded me of when I used to paint with actual oils on actual canvas. (But this time I had Command-Z. So much easier than lots of linseed oil!)
