now those buttons are looking more button-ish! perhaps a little more distinction for the shadows to really separate the inactive button vs. active. I like where this is going.

This looks great, I really like the contrast the teal has and the view state buttons work great. I also like when the 'Sign up now' button floats, like this. Ignore my quick whip up :)
@Ryan Thanks! I thought about that, but I was worried that if I accentuated the difference between the inactive and active states, I'd loose some of the realism. After all in the real world pushing a button down by a few millimeters would not drastically alter its lighting or aspect.
Good point! The only reason I like the float in the sign up button is that it slightly syncs with the view state buttons below which have that 2 px dark bg for depth. Just a thought though, I think both ways would work well!
@Rich Hmm I like your way too, it does look cleaner. I'll have to consider both options.
I like how the background behind the 'sign up'-button has a sort of 'cut off' right side! Never seen it before but it makes me want to click the button
It looks awesome!
The only thing that i'm not felling is the search bar at the top. It feels kinda wrong that one side is square and the other rounded.
I don't know, but you could try to incorporate the image of the magnifying glass inside the square box of the input. Just an idea :)
