So, the new Rivers & Robots album I've been writing and recording is finally all written! Still a bit of mixing and mastering to do but it looks all set to be released on the 20th July, and I'm super excited. So I'm just working on the album art. And yes, you're getting a sneak peek at the track list here (which isn't the final order, but might be).

I've attached a larger image for your feedback. I'm wondering if I should flip the image on the left or not. I can have it the way you see in this shot, which I think flows better with the front cover design, or I could clip it, which means the text is left-aligned and can have numbers on (numbers look weird on the right-aligned one). So I'd love to hear your thoughts on the attached, top or bottom? And of course any other general feedback you have would be super useful! Thanks.

I like the top one. From visual balance point of view and also the type layout.

By the way, which place is this ?

I also prefer the top one, without doubt. The numbers are too distracting on the bottom one and somehow the flipping doesn't 'feel' as good.

    Top one! :) Nice work!

Thanks y'all! Sounds like the top is a winner.

@Nitin Garg @Lewis Braid - thanks. The photo isn't my own, taken in Bavaria I believe. I've quite heavily tweaked the colours, the layout, took out some of the snow and obviously put the giant circle thing in there.

The top image is for sure the better flow. However, the right aligned text bothers me. The text in the bottom works better, but I believe could be designed a bit more. Maybe have the numbers and text in two separate text fields, bumping together, with the numbers right aligned and titles left aligned. And the numbers could be 1 or 2 points smaller than the titles and maybe just a tint lighter in color, to give distinction.

Bottom. Smaller numbers. Maybe no numbers.

    Bottom for sure.

This image makes me think of Middle Earth. Which is a good thing.

@Caleb Sylvest @Jake Dugard - oof! Good suggestions. I think I'll stick with the top layout though. Perhaps have numbers too, like this?

@Lee Ann Marcel - excellent. The more middle earth the better, I say! I might superimpose a little hobbit climbing the hills in the background.

I prefer the top personally, the tree on the right creates a nice boarder for the image and holds it together. Looking very sweet though altogether

I like the lighting (the bottom seems brighter) on the bottom one, but I like the justification of the track listing on the top one.

Top one for sure. The reason it works better is because on the bottom option its dark and heavy in the bottom right corner and drags my eye off the page as soon as I finish the first line of the tracks. May be different for left to right readers but since your lyrics are in english I think you will be fine. ;)

I say flip the left image, and align the text left, as the person holding the album most likely will have their thumb in the way when holding the album (their hand would be wrapped around the spine, and right thumb on the right side, which would essentially cover the tracklist).

Stunning work as always, I think this is one of your best pieces yet!

@Louis Bullock - well, they'll have to move their thumb. Thanks!

And thanks for all the great feedback everyone. I think I'll stick with the right alignment. Not sure about numbers yet, most people can count, right?
