My 2018 goal was to provide Fastly novices with the guidance that they wanted to get their configuration set up on their own. Part of this meant rethinking our empty states, and using them as an opportunity to educate customers on what will exist on the page after they get things running, and also to provide friendly next steps. I sought to achieve this through illustrations (done by Elias) depicting people at work and with copy that spoke directly to the customer.
