3D Renders for Design Systems Series, ep. 4

Hey, Dribbble. Here's some new 3D work I created for the latest episode of InVision’s Design Systems: Mastering Design at Scale. This one’s about how design systems help teams work together faster and more efficiently.

Imagery-wise, I started thinking about machine automation: gears, cogs, and mechanisms that suggest new processes and workflows.

I animated the robot arm by adding vibrate tags to the correct object groups. This was (by far) the quickest way to get some organic, random movement—and all of it was done without a single keyframe! Next, I disabled the default position movement and enabled rotational movement to ensure the object group would rotate on the correct axis.

Lastly, to illustrate the changing landscape of product design, a concept that’s a little more abstract, I created a landscape object and reduced the segments to capture a low-poly look. I animated the land using a displacer, duplicated the object, and dropped it into an atom array to create the landscape’s contours.

Hit the L key (thanks!) and then go take a look at the episode to see it all in context (and maybe pick up a few new collaboration tips).
