One of the projects I worked on in my semester at UTK this fall was a book on a subject of my choosing. I have a passion for coffee and believe supporting local businesses with the power of a dollar is huge. I am privileged getting to work as a barista and one thing that I see often is people don't quite fully understand some of the concepts in the coffee business such as variety, terroir, processing, and roasting. I decided to write my book about all of that and went about explaining how these factor into the characteristics a finished coffee bean has while also showing my audience a few of the local coffee shops here in Knoxville, TN. My book is by no means a one stop shop or an encyclopedia of sorts but I wanted to introduce some of these ideas in a friendly and casual manner. You can read it here:
