Animation | Messaging Empty State

As app design lead, I really wanted to add an extra layer of personality and polish to the platform with character animation on the empty states. This was made possible through a terrific collaboration with @Chelsea French, Care.com's incredibly talented motion designer. She brought the characters to life in After Effects and then exported the designs as json files using the bodymovin plugin. Then with the magic of Lottie, rendered the animations for direct use in our native and web applications. To show off the end result, here is an empty state animation we use for an inbox page.
