This is part of submission for product designer design challenge interview by Platform.sh. Inspirations were taken from Kibana, Azure monitor etc.
After researching various log monitor products in the market, I noticed that majority of them were very visual in nature. Most of them also included charts to give a holistic overview of the log. Inspired by this I brainstormed layout that help in filtering out data visually. This include tweaking buttons, selecting specific options to get desired data.
In this iteration of design user can
- In this exploration, I have completely let go the traditional log preview and displayed them in tabular format.
- The bars are interactive and on clicking specific bar, the particular log entry will be selected in the table.
- The advanced filters can perform AND; OR actions.
- The side panel is a detail preview of table row if selected or general status of the application if no row selected.
