YCP-CON18 | Logo

The YCP Member Conference is an annual gathering of young professionals from different places and industries, for an inspirational weekend with some of the most exciting Catholic speakers in the US.

A few months ago, I was commissioned to develop the visual branding for the 2018 Conference in Cleveland, Ohio with the theme: Mary, Star of Hope. This had to be a clean and sober brand, using the already-established colors from the YCP brand, while aligning to a Marian theme.

We went through a lot of iterations during the creative process. A first option was to portray Mary as the "Rose without thorns"; that is the the Kecharitomene, the woman full of grace, the one without original sin (Lk 1:28).

However, we finally went with a more personal approach to Mary, emphasizing her role as intercessor (CCC 967-970), as a guiding light to both spiritual and social dimensions of youth. Colors were defined by the YCP royal blue which stands for Marian devotion in the Catholic Church tradition, while having the YCP gold to speak of jubilance, hope, and beauty around Mary.
