An elegant jquery social media menu I created and wrote a tutorial for. Trust me, it's way better with the jquery. :) Let me know what you think.

I think the animation stacking is a little distracting. When you hover onto a new anchor element the previous animation should cancel if it's still executing. That'd require some more code on your part to manage that queue, but the end result would be a lot cleaner.

Thanks for this Preston. Looks great. I do agree that the animation might be distracting if a few of the icons are hovered over by mistake but I think that can be solved by making the tool tip smaller.

    I like it a lot!

Can't wait to see how it looks with mine on gedyrivera.com

Some great input. Thanks, guys. I probably won't be tweaking this particular tutorial much due to time constraints, but I will definitely keep that in mind in the future.

Yeah jQuery is kind of a double-edged sword. It's insanely easy to produce 90% awesome results, but that last 10% (lowering hits on the DOM, organizing and decoupling your code, handling weird cases like this one, making things degrade gracefully) can really be a B.
