Metaluna Mutant

How to Add Fine Halftone Details

With our new Horrific Halftones Brush Pack for Photoshop, you can add halftones into the smallest spaces with our pressure sensitive brushes.

This dude is Metaluna Mutant from the 1955 sci-fi movie “This Island, Earth"; and as you can see he has a lot of details that need to be filled in for his brain and eyes.

Using Horrific Halftones with either an iPad Pro and software like Astropad or a Wacom tablet you can get into those tight spaces quickly and accurately.

Alternatively, you can use your mouse and make the brush smaller. @growcase used a mouse to fill in these details, but in the demo, we're using an Apple Pencil an iPad Pro with Astropad.

Behind the Illustration

This illustration was created by looking at source material from the movie “This Island, Earth,” drawing rough sketches, and then creating the illustration in Illustrator.

Once the vector work was complete, it was moved into Photoshop for fast application of halftones.
