Geisha/Maikos of Kyoto

Had originally intended to illustrate a geisha but it looks like I’ve done a maiko instead (or maybe a hybrid 🤔).

Here’s some of the differences between a maiko and a geisha:

♦️Geishas usually wear a wig while maikos style their actual hair.

♦️Geishas usually keep it simple with their aesthetics while maikos have elaborate decorations on their hair.

♦️Maikos will only have their lower lips painted in red in their first year.
