Matemax Game

Matemax is an Educational Game that helps 5th-grade children to learn math.
It is a platform game, where the character walks and picks coins that contains numbers and mathematical symbols to form a calculation. When solving the question, the character will have options of the answer in diverse selectable objects.
This game is a part of the project "Ensino Criativo", in English “Creative Learning”, the idea was to develop a website with multiple minigames to help the learning of content addressed in the 5th year of elementary school.
In Brazil, at the end of the 5th grade, many children go through the most complex transitional period of their lives up to that moment. In addition to entering pre-adolescence, they must face a different system of teaching (pluridocent regime), which is something different than they had experienced before.
The transition to the 6th grade can be very frightening, so it is important that the contents covered up to the 5th year be a strong base of knowledge, and not another difficulty for the following year.
Seeking to use the games as an attraction for the study, the minigames of the “Ensino Criativo” project aim to make use of the fun and the repetition of the content taught in the classroom, as a way of reinforcing the contents difficult for the students.
To develop this project, I used a mix adaptation of two methodologies, called “Project E” and the well know Design Thinking.
