Design Vision (2016)

MAY 2016

Overview: Design Vision is an iOS app that is intended to guide users through the process of designing or transforming a physical space. Design Vision provides users with the ability to develop and visually represent their creative styles by building a digital collection of images and organizing them into Project Books to use for inspiration when designing a living room, assessing an apartment for purchase, shopping for individual home goods, and more.

The Challenge: There is currently no product that truly takes the interior design process from start to finish and gives users a realistic idea of what their future space will look like. Design Vision eliminates the difficulty that arises when trying to visualize and design a physical space. This product empowers art students, architects, interior designers, and (future and current) homeowners to get inspired, identify their aesthetic, find materials, mock up a room (or multiple), and purchase all of the elements needed to implement their ideas in the physical world.

My Role: For my Information Science + Studies certificate at Duke University, I invented, designed, and prototyped a product called Design Vision. As a part of the project, I wrote a proposal that addresses business, development, and patent concerns, as well as outlines the detail of the project, including scope of work, user experience, product development strategy, user personas, and more. I performed competitive landscape and gap analyses to determine the hole Design Vision could fill in the marketplace. Furthermore, I compiled a list of all enabling technologies, operations, and user interface interactions for the product. For access to the full proposal, please email me directly.
