San Jose Outlaws

Team 21/32 of #TheUFLProject – the San Jose Outlaws.

The San Jose Outlaws, one of the first franchises of the UFL, are named after Tiburcio Vásquez, an infamous California bandito of the mid 1800s, though the visual identity is weighted more heavily towards the city itself. Vásquez was said to have fought for Mexican-American rights through his robberies, though it ultimately lead to his execution in San Jose in 1875.

The blue and gold color scheme is derivative of the flag of San Jose, along with the shoulder stripes featured on the team uniforms. The primary interlocking “S & J” logo is centered in the middle of a rising sun, as San Jose is often known as the Heart of Silicon Valley. The team typeface is another unique take on the traditional athletic block.
