All Together Now

At @HubSpot this month we've had a bunch of incredible events around diversity, particularly Black History Month and Lunar New Year.

I've been thinking a lot about diversity and how we tackle it as far as illustration goes. Recently also watched the incredible movies, 13th (Netflix), Get Out, and Black Panther and read The Hate U Give (Angie Thomas).

When it comes down to is the way you represent diversity in your illustration is that you have to draw it. No purple people, no animals. No cop-outs.

You have to draw diverse, actual people to start chipping away at the problem of diversity in illustrations. It doesn't get solved overnight, but it's a step in the right direction.
