My first attempt at doing some UI elements using Fireworks. I still have a long ways to go to really drill down into the workings of this program but I am loving the journey.

I love Fireworks, but it sucks with borders and rounded corners.

Rather than add a border to the existing object, duplicate it, and give the new object a semi-transparent border, and no background.

Also, playing with the stroke alignment helps a lot.

opt+k will help align some of those fuzzy pixels, too. Though you may have to ungroup the object first.

@shaun - thanks for your advice. I really do appreciate any help I can get in Fw.

The design is a bit fuzzy because I actually have a shadow behind the element that apparently doesn't seem to really show up on this shot very well.

I will def try your border trick.

I resisted using photoshop live effects for the longest time, but in the end, it does do a better job at anti-aliasing.
