Socratic: Groups

One of the largest features I've worked on since joining the team has been a focus on group chats for teens. Over the course of a few months we extensively researched how users might want to use such a feature and how we might entice them to do so, conducting over 50 user tests with realistic prototypes built with origami.

The result is a flow built almost entirely around user need - one of the biggest learnings we took away was the idea that teens would use social features if the need was great enough (again, students rely on close friends/family/classmates when the internet fails them).

The flow itself was created from the prototypes themselves, tested and iterated upon many times, sometimes even between sessions. I'm pretty happy with the result, a flow that is colorful, addresses the needs we identified, and concise.
