Seoyon MacDonald | collaborative pianist

I had the wonderful pleasure of designing and building a website for my wife, Seoyon MacDonald. She is a collaborative pianist here in Boston. She markets herself for performances and vocal coaching.

I knew going into this project that I wanted to focus on typography and photography. The photos page was where I started. I wanted to get a sense of how I could call out her photography and—eventually—videos. I then started experimenting with layout and color. The navy brushstroke distracted from the content and the images—so I decided to take a more subtle approach. That approach seemed to be closer but didn't quite match the aesthetic from the media page. I eventually landed on a subtler version without the navy brushtroke.
