Minnesota Chippers

Team 14/32 of #TheUFLProject – the Minnesota Chippers.

The Minnesota Chippers franchise is inspired by the logging industry and its importance to the economy. In the late 1800s, logging crews stationed in forest areas to saw and ship lumber to paper mills along the Mississippi – most of these crews endured long hours and dangerous conditions. In the 1907s, logging became industrialized and streamlined with the emergence of technology. Additionally, the “Chipper” nickname is a wordplay that represents the overall cheerfulness and well-spirited nature of Minnesotans.

Being an active woodcutter and dam builder, the North American beaver is the face for the Minnesota Chippers. The beaver occupies wooded areas near water systems, and their strong jaws and teeth, a single beaver is able to chip and chew down hundreds of trees a year to build dams along streams.

The Minnesota Chippers sport a primarily forest green color scheme with instances of light brown throughout the uniform. The beaver is featured on their helmets, a subtle plaid pattern is displayed on each shoulder, and a “log slice” secondary logo is featured on the pant hips. The word mark is built with a classic athletic style in mind while adapting a modern edge.
