Recommendations by Genre

This is unsolicited concept work for a social-driven reading website. Through interviewing users of a popular site for readers and book recommendations I learned that a majority were very interested in diversifying the books that they read, often feeling that they read the same kinds of books repeatedly.

With that in mind, I set out to design a listing page that helped users browse recommendations by genre so that they are presented with the work of authors they may have never read, or perhaps other titles by an author they are a fan of.

The “Want to Read” button adds that book to the list of books they would like to read while the “Not Interested” link allows the user to better refine the options that are presented to them.

In mobile, the listing narrows to a single column while maintaining the grouping by genre for easy scanning of the page.
