As far as editorial illustration goes, I've been really enjoying pushing myself to loosen up a bit lately. Working in more of a sketching fashion, the personalities that show up on the page always seem to be a bit more lively than the ones that I try to squeeze out of my pen when working precisely. The margin for error is higher (messing up on the last few strokes for instance) but the result is always something I'm surprised by and that makes it a bit more fun. It's as if the characters show up to meet me rather than me knowing exactly who they're going to be from the start.
Anyway, thanks for listening to me ramble. I hope it helps encourage you to work a bit more risk into your creative process.
