The Black Monk

My wall space is looking bare so I decided it was time to bust out the Waccom and get my art on. “The Black Monk” was a moniker of the infamous early 20th century Russian mystic otherwise known as Rasputin.

The map that’s subtly overlaid in the background is of St. Petersburg, which is where Rasputin drowned after he was shot four times, poisoned, beaten and stabbed. Hence, the dark nature and tone of the artwork.

Feedback welcome. You can view the illustration in full size at http://davidmeier.com.au/portfolio/the-black-monk/
