MyEyes - Computer Vision for the Visually-Impaired
MyEyes is a personal assistant built to grant the visually-impaired autonomy, using computer vision. Perhaps you need the price per pound, the label on a can, or the expiration date on your food. These are necessary, daily functions that the visually-impaired lack. An existing app, BeMyEyes, addresses this with volunteers over video chat. MyEyes instead uses computer vision to sidestep human resource constraints and leverages Siri for a hands-off interface.
MyEyes was recognized as an international semifinalist for social impact, by Adobe Design Achievement Awards in summer 2017.
