030/100: Deborah Sampson

Meet Deborah. She dressed as a man to help fight in the revolutionary war. She served for 17 months under the name 'Robert Shirtliff'. She was discharged after she was hit in the leg with two musket balls and in order to keep her identity she removed one of them herself with a pocket knife and a sewing needle. After her service, she didn't receive her pension for 15 years because she was discovered as a female. She spend the rest of her life she speaking out about women's rights.
