The Museum Magazine 2017 cover illustration

A detail of the illustration for this year's Museum Magazine.

The idea behind was to peek behind the sceenes of the Universalmuseum and show the viewer/visitor more of the process and curation that takes place before the pieces and artworks end up on display. There are many stories and interviews inside the magazine of people that work in the museums, that give even more insight. So to support this topic, I have illustrated an archive dawer that is very typical for a museum depot. But instead of showing a particular object (I couldn't favor any one of those 12 museums), I went with a visual metaphore, capturing a whole new world packed into that drawer. There's a lot to discover! :)

More pictures of the finished magazine are coming soon.
