Star Tavern

Part of the joys of working in an old Civil War town is learning about its history and—as it turns out—the history of the old building you work in.

@Viget HQ sits on the old location of Star Tavern, built by Walter H. Erwin on 2 acres of land he purchased for $100.

After war, the Independent Order of Grand Templars held their temperance meetings in the tavern. It served as community post office until the 1870s and as grocery store in 1910.

A lot has changed in the building since then and, yet, not that much. We still hold meetings, still serve the community, and still provide a place to gather around food and drinks.

If you ever find yourself in Falls Church, feel free to stop in for a drink—and if you'd like to become a regular, check out our careers page.
