Game 71 / Check out the whole project here

Game Highlights:
2 penalty shots, 1 shorthand, and 1 empty netter. That's how I want to earn our Playoff spot.

-As is true with so many games this season, we hit another milestone: our first 100-point season. It seems silly when we keep mentioning these stats, most of this, first of that. But what we are really celebrating is a new team (we were only founded in 2000) pushing each year to be better. To be respected. And to be the pride of Columbus.

-To be fair though, this was only the third time in NHL history that a team scored twice in a game on penalty shots. Tonight it was Sedlak in the first and Dubinsky in the second.

-The more unique penalty shot was Dubinsky’s. Josh Anderson was actually the player awarded the shot, but when he was tripped by former Jacket, Dalton Prout, he crashed into the net he was considered “hurt” by the team. So under some obscure NHL rule the captain of the team (Foligno) is able to choose any other player to take the shot who was on the ice at the time of the penalty. Cue Brandon Dubinsky who put a slick top shelf shot into the net. Oh yeah, and Anderson returned to the bench immediately after and was on the ice 5 minutes later. Ghost injuries I suppose.

-This is the 3rd time in CBJ history that we have made it to the playoffs. But we have never won a series, so let’s aim at breaking that record okay!
