Smart Thermostat Control

Hi everyone. In my spare time I have been looking at mobile smart thermostat controls and where they go wrong. For the most part these apps look great but one thing that bothers me is they all require dragging to set the temperature. Why as designers do we design things so complicated (so that they look good) when, in reality it is a simple control. This is my exploration.
